Q: How old does my puppy need to be to attend Daycare at Talk to the Tail?
All puppies can attend at any age, however need their second round of puppy shots to attend. Once their second round is complete, they are welcome for daycare. Once they are 6 months of age they must be spayed/neutered to attend and have their rabies vaccine complete
Q: What is Talk to the Tail's spay/neuter policy?
Talk to the Tail always accepts dogs of all ages, however ALL dogs over the age of 6 months will need to be spay/neutered to attend daycare. Once your pup reaches 6 months of age they will need to take a break from daycare until their Spay/Neuter is complete.
Q: What do I bring on my dog's first day? Or any daycare day?
All you need to bring is your dog! If your pup is on a feeding schedule where they would normally eat at a time they will be spending at daycare (ex. 9am breakfast or 5pm dinner) you are welcome to bring their food and we will be happy to feed them. We do not have any food on site, so we ask that you make sure to supply your own food. To limit waste, we ask you bring their food in a container that will be returned to you clean and sanitized at the end of the day. We request that you do not bring any toys, beds, blankets or any belongings. We don't want these to get worn or ruined and will supply all the tools your dog needs to be comfortable throughout the day.
Q: Does my dog wear their collar/harness in daycare?
We remove all collars and harnesses for daycare, however ask that all dogs arrive and depart on leash. This is for your dog's safety as well as the safety of all others. We believe in the benefits of a collar-free facility much outweighed having collars on your dog during play. Please ask us for more information!
Q: What is an Enrichment Daycare day? Why is it the most recommended service?
It is daycare plus all the activities your dog loves! Our new facility opening in April 2024 will be switching to an Enrichment Model so we recommend all dogs - especially new dogs and puppies - use this daycare option. It is overall the best option for your dog physically and mentally!
This is offered for any stay over 5 hours and offered all week long. This is a Daycare+ model, where your dog not only gets the daycare group play fun they are used to, but we add a whole lot more into their day to allow them to go home tired, happy and mentally stimulated. Physical exhaustion is great, but sometimes does not last or the excitement of daycare can create overarousal that carries home after daycare is done. With the added mental stimulation bonus and benefit as well as a structured day, your dog is more likely to go home relaxed, content and ready for a nice long nap while not just being physically exhausted.

What your dog's day will include with our Enrichment Full Day:
- 20 minute training walk - we work on basic leash skills like pulling and jumping
- Filtered / group play - the regular daycare model they know and love
- Decompression time - chews, puzzles, bones or toys are welcome for a nice rest break to work the brain / 2 sessions per day as needed
- Private toy time - a human and a best friend (if available) will join your pup in private fetch/tug/tricks to add that little bonus kick to their day
- Confidence building - up and down and all around, we will take time to get your dog used to different sights, sounds and textures (like paws up on a small stool or mastering those agility jumps)
- Designated 15-30 nap time - this is already integrated into every daycare day, but now they will have a quiet space to really relax and snooze - which will actually help them go home MORE tired!
- More filtered / group play!
- 20 minute decompression walk to end their day - sniff sniff sniff! There is no structure on this walk, just pure enjoyment of the outdoors
