Dog Daycare Volunteers
Talk to the Tail is seeking motivated, organized and dedicated volunteers who absolutely love dogs. We are currently looking for volunteers in Niverville Monday to Friday 4pm-7pm and in IDC Monday, Wednesday and Friday 3pm-5pm (flexible start time). Please keep in mind the majority of the position is cleaning, engaging with the group of dogs and just having fun. Volunteer duties include:
Cleaning cleaning cleaning! - a majority of this position is cleaning and taking direction from Daycare Attendants and assisting on all cleaning tasks - YES there is a lot of poop pick up ;)
Light monitoring of daycare dogs - must be comfortable with dogs of all sizes as our volunteers will be in the daycare rooms with the dogs - Please keep in mind we have a perfectly even mix of friendly big and small dogs and cannot guarantee spending time with one or the other - be ready to play with them ALL :)
Interacting with dogs, keeping them engaged and entertained throughout the day, including playing games, playing with toys and enjoying activities - if the cleaning is done its time for fun :P
Laughing and a constant positive attitude and passion to learn everything dogs!

POSTING CLOSED: Full Time Dog Daycare Attendant
Talk to the Tail is seeking highly enthusiastic, dedicated and hardworking dog lovers for our Full-Time Dog Daycare Attendant position. You must have confidence, a positive attitude, a strong stomach and a dedication to cleaning – we are looking for candidates with dog related experience, and someone who is able to stand and move for extended periods – We don’t just cuddle dogs all day!
Dog Daycare Attendant duties include:
Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning – yes this means picking up a lot of poop! Having a keen eye and sense of when dogs need to use the yard and taking them out before accidents happen, being mobile and proactive in all cleaning tasks, completing a daily cleaning checklist to ensure cleanliness of the facility at all times
Supervising and controlling a large group of dogs – interacting with playgroups using toys and resources to ensure safe level of play and minimizing stress levels of all dogs
Maintain visual observation of all dogs at all times – ensuring focus is placed on the entire room, adjusting and moving individual dogs from playgroups and documenting accordingly
Positive interaction with dogs only – no aversive handling or correction methods, must remain calm, composed and positive in difficult situations
Being super organized and detail oriented is a must!
Team player – must work with all other staff to ensure smooth and safe daycare play for all dogs, working together in a positive way to create a positive environment – dogs sense your mood!
Acknowledging, documenting and reporting abnormal dog behaviour accordingly – having the ability to read dog body language and identify over-stimulation and act accordingly
HAVE FUN – we play games with the dogs throughout the day and a lot of these are left to the daycare attendants! Bring your fun, engaging and laughter inducing dogs games and activities!
Our staffed hours are from 5am to 7pm Monday to Friday (no weekends!) so we are looking for someone who is flexible, an earlier riser or is willing to work a little later. The shifts we are looking to fill are 6am to 2:30pm and 10:30am to 7pm. Please indicate which shift would suit you best upon application. We are looking for candidates from Niverville and surrounding areas – we want to support our community. Starting wages are $11.65/hour. There is ample opportunity for growth and advancement! You will work 40 hours a week with an unpaid 30 minute lunch. We conduct a phased interview process and will reach out with more details if your application is accepted.

This starts as Monday's only 7am-10am working to a full day, and moving into a Full Time permanent position as training progresses. Please be sure your Summer/Fall 2023 availability will work to grow into the position and eventually full time! The perfect candidate will be an early riser who is punctual and will spend their morning checking in dogs, cleaning, introducing dogs who arrive and setting up the dogs and the day for success! Grooming Assistant Position - NOW CLOSED Tender Touch Pet Grooming and Talk to the Tail are seeking one motivated, organized and dedicated dog lover to join our team. Grooming and Daycare have teamed up to tailor a position to gain experience in both worlds! Have you always wanted to get into the Pet Care Industry but are unsure where to start? This is the position for you! Gaining valuable experience in grooming under Tender Touch Pet Grooming's owner Jane (with 30+ years of experience in grooming) and daycare under Talk to the Tail's owner Sara (with 7+ years of experience) you will learn everything you need to know to successfully grow in the Pet Care Industry. With ample opportunity for advancement and positions in all Pet Care areas, this is a longtime career opportunity for you! The perfect candidate would:
Be able to lift all sizes of dogs - heaving lifting required!
Have dog experience and be comfortable handling dogs and managing group play
Be reliable and punctual and have reliable transportation
Be willing to travel between Niverville and Ile des Chenes depending on shift availability
Be willing to learn and grow within an ever growing industry and ever expanding new business
